Who We Are
The FRC Launceston is a church with upwards of 250 members who live and work in the greater Launceston area. The FRC Launceston wants to be an important part of the Launceston community, because we believe that the message of the gospel of salvation is the only true comfort and hope we have in this world and that this message needs to be heard. We hope you will come to hear faithful Bible preaching and to meet Christians who want to serve Jesus Christ and be a living part of his church.
The church was instituted in 1953, when people from the Netherlands migrated to Australia. The Free Reformed Churches came into being with these immigrants. As a Protestant church we trace our roots back even further; to the great Reformation of the 16th century. At that time God raised up men such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, and John Knox to return the church to the obedience of the Word of God. The great Reformation led to a revival of a vigorous and faithful Reformed church life.
The Launceston congregation is served by pastor Rev. Dr Wes Bredenhof along with 8 elders and 4 deacons. We welcome visitors to the Sunday worship services at 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. There are child-minding services available for families with young children during both services. There are also Bible studies at various times during the week. For more information about who we are and what we do, please drop by on Sunday for a visit.
Most of the children of the Launceston congregation attend the John Calvin School located on the same premises. The John Calvin School, started by the congregation members without government subsidies in 1965, assists the parents by providing covenantal education to the children from Kinder to year 10.
